Superman

Superman

I was pumped going into Superman. Full disclosure—I’m a fan of Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman and the Snyder Cut of Justice League. I liked the darker, mythic take. But I didn’t go into this with a chip on my shoulder. I wasn’t one of those Snyder stans trying to sabotage this movie. I was genuinely excited to see something new.

And I was amazed. This Superman felt different—more real. Not just some godlike alien hovering above humanity. This Superman has human struggles. He feels like someone who actually grew up here. That relatability is what sold me.

Honestly, the only negative I walked away with was the structure feeling a little messy at times. Like, I wasn’t sure where the plot was going for a bit. Later on, once certain reveals happen, it clicks into place. But early on, it felt like the story lacked direction. I later found out it was originally supposed to be structured day-by-day over a week—and you can still feel those beats in the movie. I wish they had stuck with that format. It would’ve helped.

The visuals, though? Loved them. The color palette pops. It leans into comic book fun in a way that feels joyful and exciting. I didn’t mind the CGI too much, even if there were some rough patches—it never dipped into Flash territory (that was PS2 cutscene-level).

The characters were another huge highlight. James Gunn has a gift for making even the strangest heroes lovable. Mr. Terrific is the standout for me. And David Corenswet as Superman? He nailed it. This version of Superman reminded me of Christopher Reeve’s charm with some Superman Returns nostalgia thrown in. Definitely not another mopey god-man.
